After lots of social media teasing, Wolf Alice have finally made some huge announcements in recent days.
The first being in the form of new music. ‘Bloom Baby Blue’ was released on May 15th 2025. It marked the first time in 4 years that the band had released new music. It’s safe to say it’s a real return to form.
Wolf Alice are anything but complacent. Every time they start a new chapter, they do so with a bold new approach, a new sound, a new look, and four albums in they’ve yet to miss.
The first effort from chapter four, is the bands most advanced and accomplished effort to date. It’s thrilling, larger than life and will leave fans wanting more. It’s a bold declaration of intent by a band who know just how good they are. This feels different from the previous three efforts, because they aren’t holding back.
Ellie Roswell’s voice becomes an instrument, it’s full of little flourishes and goes through stages. One moment she soars like a choir, and the next she confronts and twists into something so much darker.
The rest of the band have their moment in the sun though, Joff Odie proves he’s one of the most underrated guitarists at the minute with a brilliant guitar solo. Joel Amey’s drumming splatters moments of intent throughout, and sets the pace throughout. Theo Ellis’ bassline pierces through the pre chorus. All four of them work in tandem to create something truly breathtaking.
Now four albums is, Wolf Alice are ready to stake a claim as being their generations most important band.
‘The Clearing’ was announced as the bands forthcoming fourth album, set for release on August 29th.
Recorded in LA with the producer Greg Kurstin known for his work with Liam Gallagher and Foo Fighters.
The band have described the record as “A classic pop/rock album that nods to the 70s but remains firmly in the present. If Fleetwood Mac wrote an album in North London.”
It sounds like a band who are extremely confident in what they have made. This confidence seems to have reflected in the venues they’ve chosen for their 2025 tour.
Choosing to make the jump into arenas, it’s a bold move but one that I think will pay off. Wolf Alice are now on a major label (Sony) and are four albums into their career. They seem to be getting better, I definitely think they can do arenas, and sell them out. They’re one of the most innovative bands and best live acts in Britain at the moment.
It’s going to be a big year for Ellie, Joff, Theo and Joel.
