Sam Fender has shared a new video teasing his return to the road in 2027, with footage of St James’ Park and Wembley suggesting that another run of major stadium concerts is on the way.
The clip shared on his Instagram and then reposted on social media follows the appearance of ‘SF27’ on Fender’s website, which we explored in our recent look at his possible 2027 tour plans, including Glastonbury and a return to St James’ Park. While that initial teaser prompted speculation about where he might play, the stadium footage now offers a much clearer indication of what he is preparing.
Taking inspiration from ‘The Lord of the Rings’, it opens with two cloaked figures peering out across an empty stadium. A wizard playing a saxophone joins the scene before the action moves to aerial shots of stadiums, with flames appearing above their roofs. Among the recognisable grounds are Newcastle’s St James’ Park and London’s Wembley Stadium.
The film then returns to the pub, ending with a shot of The Low Lights and directing viewers to Fender’s website. It is a fitting place to finish a teaser for some potentially enormous concerts, bringing the story back to the North Shields pub closely associated with the beginning of his career.
Wembley immediately stands out. Having headlined London Stadium in 2025, Fender has already proved that he can fill a stadium outside Newcastle. Wembley would be his biggest London headline show yet, just eight years after the release of ‘Hypersonic Missiles’. He certainly has the songs for it. ‘Seventeen Going Under’ and ‘People Watching’ would sound enormous there, while the thought of hearing the crowd sing back ‘The Borders’ and ‘Spit of You’ is just as exciting.
A return to St James’ Park would have its own significance. Fender played two nights at the ground in 2023 before returning for three more in 2025. For someone who grew up supporting Newcastle United, those concerts fulfilled an ambition he could hardly have imagined when he started playing in local pubs. Five sold-out shows later, there would surely be plenty of demand for another homecoming.
The video gives us a clearer idea of what ‘SF27’ might involve, although dates, support acts and ticket details are still to come. In our recent look at Fender’s possible plans for 2027, I considered another Newcastle return alongside more outdoor concerts and the reports linking him with Glastonbury. I had Wembley down as a possibility for further into his career, but the success of ‘People Watching’ has clearly brought it within reach.

His website is inviting fans to register for updates on “live shows, music, more”, raising the possibility of new material accompanying the concerts. There is no confirmation of that yet, but a fourth album would give these shows another dimension, particularly after how much ‘People Watching’ added to his live set.
Ending the video at The Low Lights is a lovely touch. It was in the North Shields pub that Fender was spotted by the man who would become his manager, Owain Davies. Returning there to tease a tour featuring some of the country’s biggest stadiums brings his story back to a place where it began.
